JODY RIGBY
“IN SEASON”
Tuesday 20th January – Monday 2nd March 2026
We’re delighted to present ‘In Season’, an exhibition of works by Jody Rigby, a former antique dealer and television horticulturist whose still life paintings are inspired by a lifelong love of vintage objects, gardens, and the quieter rhythms of everyday life.
Working primarily in acrylic on board and canvas, Jody’s practice centres on rustic vessels, seasonal fruit, and simple florals. Drawing from a personal collection of antiques spanning the last 100 years, her compositions evoke nostalgia and a longing for a slower, more considered way of living.
‘In Season’ reflects Jody’s background in horticulture and her sensitivity to what is growing, ripening, and passing through the seasons. Influenced by references ranging from the Dutch Masters and Cubism to 1950s tea towels and block prints, she embraces a painterly, layered approach. Her works favour light, shadow, and texture over perfection, with expressive brushstrokes and rich colour revealing glimpses of underpainting beneath the surface.
Each piece captures a quiet moment in time, celebrating beauty in the ordinary and the enduring charm of utilitarian objects and seasonal florals.
